A Fond Farewell to Year 11
July 20, 2017

The sun was shining at The Hawthorne’s yesterday as we celebrated our 4th annual Shakespeare ‘Off by Heart’ Festival!

Year 7 finalists had just two weeks to choose and perform one of the 18 speeches from our set list of famous Shakespearean monologues and extracts. Once again, Romeo & Juliet proved popular with Ciara Benn and Megan Noone winning the duet category with a stunning performance of ‘Blistered be thy tongue…’

As Shakespeare said, ‘We know what we are, but know not what we may be’

Here at The Hawthorne’s we understand the importance of challenging all of our students and reciting Shakespeare is just one of the many ways we develop fluent, confident public speakers.
